Paris in Parts: Chateaux

Part Two: Chateaux

Chateua Chambord, Loire Valley, France

Chateua Chambord, Loire Valley, France

The chateaux of France bring together many wonderful aspects of the culture. Each estate typically has stunning grounds with gardens, canals, and other natural beauties. The grand structures were built for lords or nobility and, to signify their power, were designed to be awe-inspiring. Therefore, chateaux are like museums, each filled with beautiful and priceless objects, and each with highly decorated rooms.

Most chateaux are in the French countryside, like the Loire Valley, the breadbasket of France. So, it may take a bit of time to reach some of these wonderful estates. However, it is easy to spend a day exploring the main house, auxiliary buildings and gardens. You can make the most of your time if you pack a meal because most of the chateaux have gardens with ample areas to relax and eat, and some are connected to a public park or forest. Don’t be shy, on a sunny day, you will find many relaxing on the expansive chateaux grounds.
