A Monumental Day in DC

Cherry Blossom Festival during peak bloom

Spring is here! Finally!

Weather patterns have been strange throughout the United States this year producing a long Winter and resulting in some frustrating clothing choices and forcing many to change their gardening rituals. Some parts of the East Coast, including the DC area, received a surprise snow accumulation on St. Patrick’s Day, a mere three days before the start of Spring. Even though March always marks the official beginning of Spring, April is the real time to celebrate. April is National Landscape Architecture Month, and this year it is the month with truly enjoyable Spring weather. There is no better example of this fact, then the annual Cherry Blossom Festival in the Nation's Capital.

So, with desperately needed assurance that the world would soon be green again, a trip to DC was in order. Here are a few highlights of a beautiful day in DC!

A Stop at the Building Museum

For National Landscape Architecture Month the National Building Museum hosted the premier of the documentary "From Sea to Shining Sea." The film was a Kickstarter project that produced a time-lapse car trip form coast to coast and attempts to capture the country's diverse landscape. There is one big problem: the highways of America do not come close to showing landscape diversity. Great idea, poor film. Nevertheless, a trip to The National Building Museum is always a treat.
